Resettlement of Villages During the Flooding of the Kaniv Reservoir<\/strong>
In the 1970s, during the construction of the Kaniv Hydroelectric Power Plant, many villages on the peninsula faced the threat of flooding. Residents were forcibly resettled, and a number of historic settlements disappeared beneath the waters. Among the villages that were submerged or ceased to exist were Trakhtemyriv, Monastyrok, Zarubantsi, Buchak, and others.<\/p>\n
